As a commissioned response to Nick Cave: UNTIL, my performance reflected this eponymous journey and I attempted to pull an apparatus that I created from old duvet covers, curtains, and rope. It was decorated with artificial hair that I once used for my braids (phenomenology/ritual), pots and pans (domesticity), flowers (memorial), and racial kitsch (racial trauma). I was tied to this apparatus that was also weighted beyond what I was able to pull, and I attempted to carry this burden knowing and intending to fail just as systemic oppression ensures that I fail to resolve this burden on a daily basis.
